 Madhubani Painting Descripton:

The artist Sri Indrakanth Jha we work with is State Awardee from jitabarpur, Bihar. He and his whole family do madhubani painting. There are only 50K goverment recognised madubani artist's in whole Bharat(India).

Madhubani Painting is being practiced in Mithila, Bihar for centuries, it's a free hand painting, in the earlier centuries it is practiced on walls, stones, sturdy cotton cloths, after Bharat(India) independence from British, at the time of Indira Gandhi government, Indra Gandhi as Prime Minister visited the artists and recommended artists to start painting on paper and created framework for artists to sell the art on international platform, today Madhubani painting is recognized across the world, lot of western people love the madhubani paintings, So the local state artists started to manufacture sturdy paper(which is made of dry grass, cotton, rice starch and methi), artist buy the sturdy canvas paper and started doing painting on the canvas paper. Madhubani artists use sharp Bamboo stick or pen nib to do painting on canvas paper.

There are 3 types of paintings Mithila Painting, Tatto Painting(Godhana painting) and line painting, the painting we sell are Mithila painting.

The paints are natural colors, made from Vegetables, for example Black color vegetable paint is made from Charcoal, Green Color vegetable paint is made from green grass, red color paint is made from red roses or beet root or sindhoor,
yellow color paint is made from turmeric root, Orange color is made from Carrot juice and bubble tree gum used as an agent to retain the color. If we see the technology artist came up with to make things naturally rather using technology for everything is very exciting and mindblowing.
